Aloha! My name is Greg Torzillo. I’m owner and performer of Hula Carolina, the East Coast’s premiere Polynesian Event Entertainment Group

My Story So Far…

I grew up in San Diego and started out playing in my father’s swing band at 15 years old and being the youngest member of the local musicians union 325 at the age 17.

I relocated to Oahu Hawai`i in 1988 to play for a dance hall Reggae band. This lead to me playing in a Top 40 group that was the house band that summer at the Blue Water Cafe on Kuhio Avenue right in the heart of Waikiki. I also had extended dates at Wave Waikiki and the Tom Selleck owned Black Orchard restaurant. It was during this time that my agent in Honolulu started booking me overseas and I started touring worldwide.

I began touring in over 15 countries with various bands performing well over 1000 shows alone for our military stationed abroad.

By 1992 I had made Maui my home base and I was very fortunate to play Hawaiian music in every major resort on the island. I was a staff musician for the prestigious Old Lahaina Luau, a six time recipient of the Kahili Award from the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau. Playing next to Akoni from Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Ekolu, the extremely talented Sam Ako and from KPOA radio the very missed Uncle Poki and Wendell Warrington.

I played for Manutea and Tihati productions, Ho`okani opening up in Moloka`i with Pound 4 Pound. I also played with Mondokane on Maui and in Lana`i .Back in Maui performing with Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Cody Pueo Pata, Lono, Lahaina Grown and with family members of Willie K at the Paniolo Show Ka`anapali train station. I even sat in at times with one of the original Ali`i members of Don Ho, Rudy Akino at the Ka`anapali beach resort. I brought the New Year in 4 years in a row performing at the Hana Hotel Maui.

In 2003 I relocated to North Carolina bringing with me my continued passion for Hawaiian music meeting Asa Young and Michael Five O Ebalaroza from Oahu to form the Hawaiian Kine Band who has opened several times now for The Makaha Sons, Patrick Landeza, Pate and performed for several Hula Halau competing in the Orlando Florida Ho`ike Hula competitions.

In 2008 on Oahu I performed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel patio reception before the opening ceremony of the Hawaiian Legends Awards. I also performed at the Hawaiian Music Awards that same month back to Maui at the Sheraton Ka`anapali with Mondokane.

Hula Carolina provides entertainment as I was taught to perform from the many influences of the Polynesian shows I have been privileged to be a steady part of over the many years I lived on the beautiful island of Maui. I invite you to call and ask about our Corporate Events and other event show opportunities!
